Silver Cloud’s DURALAN II™ Heat Shield display filter windows provide protection against heat generated by infrared (IR) in outdoor applications. The added protection of DURALAN II Heat Shield can be very effective for applications where the LCD display is exposed to direct sunlight and has the potential for heat build-up. To achieve the shielding effect, a special film is laminated with other plastic materials for the display filter. The special film reflects the infrared light instead of letting it pass through the filter. At the same time, visible light is easily transmitted through the filter, enabling the display to be clearly viewed. These filters offer approximately 80% I/R reflectance.
In addition to protection against infrared light, DURALAN II Heat Shield display filters can include EMI/RFI protection, if the application requires it. Filters can be customized to meet application needs utilizing unique hard coated surfaces, which are offered in various gloss levels. Custom graphics, fabrication, and finishing are also available.
